Are you looking for a fun, thoughtful gift idea for a loved one? Or maybe you just want to make a keepsake for your family's Christmas tree. Today I am sharing my Monogrammed Glass Ornament {Filled with Sheet Music.} This is a great gift idea, and the good news is, it's easy to make!
What you'll need:
- Glass ornament (I bought a package of 4 for a few bucks at Hobby Lobby.)
- Glass paint (I always use Martha Stewart Glass paint, available at Michaels. I used the opaque paint in "Chipotle" for this project.)
- Paint Dauber
- Stencils
- Sheet Music (I downloaded and printed mine from the Graphics Fairy, but you could also buy some at a thrift store.)
- Thread or thin ribbon. (I used gold.)
Place your stencil onto the front of your ornament. I used a monogram letter and also two little leaf stencils on each side. These are Martha Stewart glass stencils and can be found at Michaels. I love them because they are adhesive so they stay in place, and you can use them over and over again. (Tip: While I painted mine, I made a makeshift ornament stand out of a small ring cut from a paper towel holder. It held the ornament in place for me so it didn't roll around.)
Dab the paint on with the paint dauber, and remove the stencils quickly while the paint is still wet. Stick the top back on your ornament, and tie some pretty ribbon to create a loop.
Give it as a gift, or keep it for yourself!

How cute! i'd have to add a dash of glitter inside, because that's how I roll. :) Love the red, Erin!

ReplyDeleteThank you! Happy Holidays!
DeleteThis is a lovely idea. I made my own decorations this year using pine cones. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura! I love crafting with pine cones too. You can't beat free!
DeleteI saw a really cute picture of these glass ornaments. Instead of music inside the bauble it was filled with fake snow and on top of the snow sat a carrot shaped piece of orange cardboard, two small buttons, and a tiny scarf. It all looked like a melted snowman. It was so cute!It was kind of like this: http://folksy.com/items/3810286-Melted-Snowan-Christmas-Bauble-Decoration I planned on making them but I couldn't find the baubles:(
